Neighbourhood Standards

The City of Winnipeg regulates the maintenance of properties and other aspects of a neighbourhood in order to develop and maintain safe, orderly, viable and sustainable communities and to promote and maintain the health, safety and welfare of residents.

As a tenant in the Fort Richmond and University Heights neighbourhood, you have a responsibility to understand and abide by the Neighbourhood Liveability By-laws regulated by the City of Winnipeg.  In Fort Richmond and University Heights, there are five specific by-laws that tenants need to understand and abide to.  Fines charged by the City of Winnipeg or Province of Manitoba may result if tenants do not comply with by-laws.

The Fort Richmond – University Heights Neighbourhood Association have simplified these five important  by-laws to assist tenants in understanding their  responsibility in helping to maintain a safe and healthy community for all residents.

PLEASE KEEP THE NEIGHBOURHOOD CLEAN and SAFE

If you rent a house or room, it is your responsibility to understand and abide by these by-laws. Failure to do so may result in fines or charges by the City of Winnipeg and Province of Manitoba.

If you are a tenant, please read the following information sheets to better understand YOUR responsibilities in the community.

  1. Noise Levels
  2. Open Fire Pits
  3. Mowing  Grass
  4. Removal of Garbage
  5. Parking Multiple Cars in Driveways
