CODE OF ETHICS

A REALTOR® is a licensed real estate professional who is a member of a local real estate board, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and a provincial association.

A REALTOR® must adhere to provincial law and abide by a REALTOR® Code of Ethics, ensuring a high level of service, honesty and integrity. The REALTOR® Code of The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) is universally recognized by real estate professionals and consumers alike as the measure of professionalism in real estate.

The REALTOR® Code of Ethics is intended to define the high standard of performance the public has a right to expect from those licensed to display the REALTOR® trademark.   For a detailed overview, see REALTOR® CODE OF ETHICS

TAKE ACTION AND REPORT PROBLEMS

It is important to report rental/sale properties that are being misrepresented by agents of the Winnipeg REALTORS® Association.

As an example, single family dwellings cannot be advertised as revenue generating properties.  In the image shown below, the listing is marketing a revenue property and not a single family residence. We contacted the Winnipeg REALTORS® Association, who worked with the realtor to change the way the property was being marketed.

When you report a violation, the Winnipeg REALTORS® Association will work with agents to ensure they know the area is zoned as single family dwellings and promote the listing appropriately.

You also have the option of also reporting agents who are not adhering to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics to the Canadian Real Estate Association.  If you believe that a realtor is not living up to the Code of Ethics (ie: misrepresenting a property, inaccuracy in advertising, etc.), please take action by reporting it:
