Thanks to City Councillor Janice Lukes, the Winnipeg Public Service is studying options for implementing regulatory licensing requirements for single family homes that rent rooms.

The Public Service will be consulting  with municipalities and local organizations (residents, University of Manitoba Students’ Union, etc.) to prepare recommendations which will then be presented to the City’s Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development, Heritage and Downtown Development in fall, 2017.

Recommendation of the Standing Policy Committee

Single Family Dwellings in Neighbourhoods Adjacent to the University of Manitoba  (South Winnipeg – St. Norbert Ward)

Recommendation:  The Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development, Heritage and Downtown Development directed the Winnipeg Public Service to review options for implementing regulatory licensing requirements for single family homes that rent rooms, consult with other municipalities, and report back with options within 180 days.
