Since we met at the Annual General Meeting the association has been active in a number of ways. We had a successful postcard drop in September. Gord is still looking for new street captains if you are interested. The association ran a very successful candidates forum for both school trustee candidates and city
We were delighted that both Markus Chambers and Janice Lukes were able to attend our meeting in the fall. Plans were made for a number of educational sessions for the community in the spring. Much of our attention was focused on the excellent information session that the Winnipeg Real Estate Board sponsored in the fall for their realtors. Both Markus and Janice attended that session and represented our concerns about the advertising of single family dwellings as investment properties. Janice and Markus are following up on a number of situations in this area.
We continue to have more affordable housing units approved and started in the area. I believe this is making a positive difference
We also continue to be represented on the Brady Community Committee. If you haven’t been to their website or visited the centre on Brady road it is worth the trip. They are doing amazing innovative things to reduce the impact of our garbage. New recycling rules are being developed and will be shared with the community in the near future.
